The Internet is still considered a black hole by most companies. Google has solved access to Internet content for the individual, but what about access to Internet data for business? Datafiniti’s mission is to take the entire Internet and transform it into a single database that all businesses can access quickly and easily. This presentation will provide an overview into the wide array of applications that become possible once web data is made truly accessible. This will include interactive analysis using web data to illustrate how online reviews affect the travel industry, how luxury brands command premiums, and how local businesses can help develop a startup ecosystem.

Company Description
Datafiniti is the first company to focus on productizing a database created from distilling web data from the vast, unmanageable web.  By utilizing proprietary technologies, Datafiniti has created a structured, instantly accessible dataset that businesses can use to make key business decisions. Datafiniti’s technology is used by enterprises in all verticals, including online businesses, travel, hospitality, real estate, media and retail.

Start Small, Deliver Big. The Flipside of Online Marketing (+ Job Networking Happy Hour) | 6:30 PM - 8:30 PM
Limited Capacity full

Discover 2 Skills to increase revenue in 6 Weeks Without ANY Additional Funding, Zero “Inside Connections” And No Sales Calls.

Our mystery guest speaker (we’ll call him Mr. X for now) has helped countless underground startups make tens of millions of dollars with NO funding… and he’s going to walk you through how you could double the profitability of your business within the next 60 to 90 days.

Join us on October 5th for the best online marketing event at Austin Startup Week!

In honor of Austin Startup Week, we'll also be holding an Online Marketing Job Networking Happy Hour the night of the meetup brought to you by WP Engine.  If you're looking for a job or looking to hire someone in online marketing don't miss this event :)

More about the presentation....

Little did you know, there's a secret world of Internet Marketing where products are launched and promoted in just a few weeks and can generate tens of millions of dollars.

The high-paced world of "IM" is like a mad scientist's laboratory of direct response marketing strategies and techniques.

And the online products promoted by these “underground startups” are the perfect analog for the work you do in the funded startup space, as well as their marketing departments large and small.

As for “Mr. X”... Well, our speaker is the infamous and insanely smart David Gonzalez.

David is one of the country's leading thought leaders in the Digital Marketing space and he'll be sharing VIP access to the secrets used by this elite group of online marketers.

Here are the highlights of what he’ll reveal:

* How to 4x your revenue using the existing web traffic you’re already getting.

* How to maximize the revenue from every single person opting in to your newsletter… and if you don’t yet have a newsletter, here’s why you need one and how to get started.

* The secret key to growth that lets you go toe-to-toe with the Fortune 500 giants and increase your revenue on demand.

* The little known business skill that’s actually the most powerful thing for any business or startup owner to learn.  (hint: it might have something to do with robotics)

If you're ready to accelerate your marketing efforts using techniques from the top-secret world of Internet Marketing, don't miss this meetup.

RSVP NOW!  Spots will fill up fast because of Austin Startup Week.

-------------------

Job Networking Happy Hour: If you're looking for a job in online marketing or if you're looking to hire, join us for the happy hour following the speaker's presentation for a great opportunity to make meaningful connections that will improve your business or your career. The networking hour is sponsored by WP Engine who will be in attendance and happens to be looking to hire a ton of folks.  If you're at Austin Startup Week looking for a job or if you're looking to hire, make sure to stay for the job networking happy hour!

Special Thanks:  Thanks to Affiliate Summit for their continued support of our meetup.  If you haven't had the chance to attend an Affiliate Summit yet, make sure to check out ASW in Vegas in January.  Early bird discounts end on 10/23. More info on Affiliate Summit West.

AustinRB: Core Methods You Forgot You Had | 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

The trouble with having a big toolbox is that some of the tools get used all the time, and they stay on the top of the pile. But sometimes the perfect tool for the job is the one hiding in the bottom corner of the toolbox. The same is true of the Ruby core. Tonight we'll dump the toolbox onto the table and rummage around. We'll look at some very useful methods in Array, Hash, IO, Enum, and elsewhere -- methods that may not be used very often and may be unknown or forgotten.

Hal Fulton has two degrees in computer science and more years of experience than he will admit to. He has used Ruby since 1999 and is the author of _TheRuby Way_. He is obsessively interested in way too many things, including music, art, space travel, theater, and torturing people with bad puns. He is an Austinite currently living in exile in Fort Worth, and has an imaginary friend named Nola Stowe.

More about the AustinRB Meetup Group

This is a group devoted to Ruby, a great language used for things beyond rails. We talk about Sinatra, Deep dives into the workings of Ruby, other things we find interesting as Rubyists and practicing Ruby by doing katas in the second half of every meeting.

Our event takes place again at Capital Factory in Downtown Austin.

In the Know From the Go: How to Effectively Communicate with Your Key Stakeholders | 12:00 - 1:30 PM
After strategically courting and locking your investor team and building your board of directors, founders soon recognize the challenging balance between business execution and keeping these key stakeholders informed, current, engaged, and passionate about their investment.

How do you keep your stakeholders interested in the next round or in engaging further? Are you sharing the right level of information? How should you convey bad news? Are you optimistic, pessimistic, or realistic? What milestones are conveyed? How do you maintain consistency in your communications cadence, style, and content? What's the right content and frequency? And what's the effort required to do this right?

Our panel will include the perspectives of early stage CEOs and investors to help you understand the importance, the content, insights, and pitfalls for maintaining a strong relationship with your key stakeholders.

Lunch will be provided. Since there is limited space for this event, it is advised that you arrive early as entry will be on a first come, first serve basis.

InnoTech's Opening Keynote: NewSpace, New Worlds and the New Frontier | 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

This event requires additional registration. See below for details.

The technology revolution is moving into space. Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Paul Allen and other tech billionaires are investing in projects to open the frontier to business and settlement. By next year the first non-government human space flight operations will begin, meanwhile a dozen or more companies are almost ready to fly or have begun commercial space activities.

Companies are also raising millions to mine the Moon and harvest asteroid resources, with the first missions planned within five years. New technologies, processes, and most importantly a new attitude has taken the old space program and – rather than killing it as some have proclaimed – is building on its amazing legacy to throw open the airlock to space.

So how do we redefine our human space activities in light of a possible new partnership between governments and the people? Why Must our governments not just encourage this to happen, but help Make it happen? What does any of this have to do with a spiritual quest to explore the Universe and find the meaning of life? Why is this possibly the most important human activity of all? Why is it happening now?

What does this have to do with you?

Intro to the Austin Developer Community and AMA with Damon Clinkscales | 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Are you new to the Austin Developer Community? Are you a developer thinking about moving to the "Live Music Capital"? Or perhaps you've attended a few meetups, but want to figure out how to better plug in to more of the scene?

Austin has a diverse technology scene, with multiple meetups every night. Come hear an overview of the developer community in Austin by one of the community's leaders.  You'll learn about many of the developer meetups which happen on a regular basis, get a chance to introduce yourself, and ask questions.

Damon Clinkscales is the founder of Austin on Rails, one of the earliest and Ruby on Rails user groups in the country (founded just as Rails went 1.0). Given the strength of its community, Austin was selected as the host of Railsconf 2012. He founded a weekly hack night called Cafe Bedouins, where developers and designers work on side projects, and is a co-organizer of Austin API.

Austin Startup Week is supported in part by HiredNetSpendIBM BluemixCapital Factory and Techstars. If you see someone from their teams, give them a hug and hi-five!

For Austin Startup Week We've cooked up something special! We are excited to have 5 speakers from different types of businesses from the Austin area!
